The porticoes of Bologna have been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status

The UNESCO organization announces that the portico ensembles, which cover a total stretch of 62 km within the Municipality of Bologna, become UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Since 12th Century the porticoes have been considered the most distinctive feature of the city of Bologna; an identifying element recognized not only by the community but also by visitors from all over the world.
